Aiman Merali

About Me

My name is Aiman Merali and I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

I am honoured to join the team of therapists here at Spatium and am looking forward to offering talking therapy to individuals who are seeking to enhance their overall well-being.

I have trained in Psychosynthesis, which is an integrative, holistic model, focussing on mind, body and feelings and the soul journey. Having trained in a transpersonal model, which is lends itself to the incorporation of other well-known psychological models for example psychodynamic, person centred, CBT and mindfulness, I feel that I can work with a variety of clients depending on their needs.

As a therapist, I often employ creative therapeutic tools like images, stories, chair work and visualisations to access and facilitate space for deeper emotions and feelings.

The notion of diversity and inclusion are reflected in my therapeutic practice. I enjoy working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and honour both the similarities and differences we share as fellow beings.

My therapeutic style is client led and relational. I see myself as a supportive resource, facilitating a safe relationship through which clients can uncover and employ their inner wisdom to make choices which enable them to seek out their potential.

I offer short term therapy, usually a minimum of 8 sessions and long term therapy for clients who are seeking a deeper understanding of their past experiences and how these may impact upon their present circumstances.

My previous counselling experiences have been within charity organisations and school settings, university students and young professionals.

I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework and am in regular supervision. I also attend workshops and events to continue my training and development personally and professionally.

My main areas of practice and experience are in:

  • Loss of meaningful relationships
  • Searching for purpose and meaning
  • Identity
  • Co-dependency
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Need for self-exploration and self-discovery
  • Coping with change
  • Addictions
  • Domestic violence
  • Sexual abuse

I charge £60 per 50-minute session.
